SHARON FERRARI

The end is always a new beginning

Let's start by saying that I did read that beautiful amazing book, "The Shadow of the Wind", one of the most incredible books I have had the pleasure to get into.
Cannot believe I bought it in Bali, in a second hand store that had no Italian books but that, and another one I got.
I went back to Italy for a few weeks to visit my family, you might know that if you are a friend of mine or if you follow me on Instagram.
I have had 15 amazing days, filled with joy, emotions, love and hugs. I got back on the 6th of September and I must admit I was a little depressed. Might be because it was cold here, because I had to get back to work, because I missed my family and my town..I don't know. That is why I decided to take a break and stop everything I was planning, stop my Instagram, stop my website, stop taking photos, stop with the photography course, just stop. I took 1 and a half months and today is the end of that break.
Why today? I got quite sick on Sunday, a bad cold that is still lingering but almost gone, nothing that a few Panadols won't fix.
Tomorrow I am going back to work, back to planning, back to reading, back to photography and all the things I love the most.
I realized that when I focus so intensely on something I really want, my OCD comes out and I don't get anything done because it has to be perfect. If it isn't, I am not happy.

I have a few good news and a few lovely pictures to share with you all.

News #1: Dale convinced me to become a member of the "24 hours fitness" gym in town that has gyms all over the world. I think the best selling point he had was the shower and toilets we could use if we go on a trip with our van and the fact that the gym is open 24 hours. Which means that if I feel like going there at 4 am I can. (it will never happen, but I love the idea)

News  #2: We got a van! Yap, we bought a Mitsubishi Express 4x4, no idea what he actual model is, but a picture might help.

News #3: Yesterday I have taken my beloved Nikon out of the closet and I started shooting again. I had so much fun playing with styling, picking flowers from the garden, checking for the correct lighting, exposure, making sure the photo was tack sharp and for a moment stop breathing...click! Perfect shot!

News #4:
I have always wanted a website that is bright, with soft colors, beautiful images and pleasant to look at. I think I might have found what I was looking for!

News #5: I am starting a challenge called "100 days of blogging". I will try my very best to have a post going up every single day, for 100 days. The aim is to get into a routine of writing that will make it easier for me to post every day or every second day, which is something I have never been able to do up till this point.

News#6: I convinced Dale to change out bedroom to where my studio was, and have my studio in our old bedroom. The space we gained is equal to another room, and Dale is really happy with the result.
I am so satisfied to have so much light to be able to take photos with the door opened. Now that summer is coming, it will be so lovely to have this space for us.
Our room now looks like one of those Ikea showrooms, neat, tidy and clean. Very simple in design but still very beautiful. At night, you can see the moon from the bed and in the morning, you get woken up by this beautiful sunrise. I couldn't feel more inspired.
I have to be honest though, I would prefer to have white walls instead of "malt yogurt" looking walls.

dora-1-of-1News #7 : I bought an Olivetti typewriter. One of my dreams! Tiziano Terzani, one of my favorite authors, worked at Olivetti for many years and I can not think of his beautiful book every time I hear the name "Olivetti". In memory of one of the most passionate journalists, I bought my first typewriter.
I have also found out it is a 1971 machine, which still works and I am totally in love.

End of the list for now.

This takes us back to where I have left you and the photos are to apologize for my absence.
Tomorrow is another beautiful day and I might start going around with my camera, taking photos of what my days are filled with. Always joy and happiness.
