Bad day? Here is how to get over it

Monday was one of those days where I thought I would not come out of it intact.
For one reason or another, it started as the day that could possibly ruin my week.
Now, I don't want to be too dramatic, but trust me, that was a really bad day for me.

The story:
starting off with a 5:15am wake up, to catch a train and leave my hometown to get back to Florence by midday. Here in Italy is the beginning of Autumn and the weather is getting colder, which I love, but that also means: sickness.
I started off with an headache, nausea, no proper breakfast, a tiny bit of coffee and not enough water.
To that, add a 40 minutes drive, not enough sleep and too many bags..you get the perfect mix for a bad day.
I managed to sleep on the train, I took a horribly flavored medicine and I managed to wake up grumpy as a sleepy hedgehog. (yap, they get a bit grumpy when they are sleepy)

We got to Florence. Me and Francesco took the bus home, after I got frustrated because I had no cash to pay the tickets, he got off to a stop close to where he works. Wasn't long till I realized we took the wrong bus, and that, wasn't taking me home. I got off, falling first on a man and then on top of the trolley I was carrying.
Let's put it this way: it was just a shitty morning.

Having a bad day

So here are my steps on how to get over a bad day:

  • RELAX
take some time for yourself, right in the middle of all the shittiness that is coming to you. Take some time to breathe, make yourself a hot drink or whatever pleases you. You don't need much, just 10-15 minutes and look at it into perspective. The day won't seem so bad after it.
  • DON'T ASK YOURSELF WHY
sometimes is not worth wondering why the day is going so bad. Sometimes it is just what it is, a bad day.
  • CALL A FRIEND
I have to be honest, I don't have a lot of friends, but when something like this happens to me, I always text one of my best friends or I call her up. Chatting about it with someone else, will make yo realize what a not so bad of a day you are going through. And you will probably get some laughs out of it.
  • GO TO SLEEP EARLY
there is no point dragging the day on if it isn't going well. Just take a hot relaxing shower, or a bath, put some cozy pajamas on and straight to bed! You can always watch a movie

Here is a website I found, called Calmsound that reproduces relaxing sounds from nature. My favorite is "Rainforest"
